And the death rate for that type of cancer, called mesothelioma, is 3.7 per 100000 people in the Forest, compared with a national average of 2.5. Worse still, the number of people succumbing to the illness is expected to peak over the next five years.

Asbestos death rates higher than average in Warrington

DEATH rates for asbestos related cancer is well above the national average in Warrington, statistics have shown. Mesothelioma, a terminal cancer of the lung wall, was shown to be the underlying cause of 40 deaths in the area between 2006 and 2010.
